Throughout this rugged, steep Wilderness, the Sturgeon and Little Silver Rivers and their tributaries have carved falls, rapids, ponds, oxbows, and terraces. - After leaving the National Forest it flows northward, again crossing and re-crossing the Baraga-Houghton County line and running generally parallel to the western shore of Keweenaw Bay. The river discharges into Portage Lake near Chassell, Michigan. - The Sturgeon is a Type 1 Fishing Stream were Atlantic salmon, Brook trout, Brown trout, Coho, Chinook and Pink salmon, Lake trout, Rainbow trout, Splake are fish species of note. - A four-mile stretch of the river, from the Sturgeon Falls to the road before Prickett Lake is a CLASS II-III section whitewater kayaking, and rafting area. - There is a pleasant hiking trail in the vicinity of Sturgeon River called the Pelkie Creek Hunter Walking Trails. - Michigan Nature Association Lands are across the river from the Northeastern part of the property being offered for sale. - The river along this property features oxbows, and has some sandy shoreline where you can swim, and launch your canoe, kayak, or fishingboat. - Beaver, Black bear, Fisher, Fox, Mink, Moose, Ruffed grouse, Snowshoe hare, Whitetail deer, and Woodcock are common here. - Trees common in the area include: American elm, Balsam fir, Eastern white pine, Northern white cedar, Paper birch, Quaking aspen, Red maple, Tamarack, White ash, White spruce, and Yellow birch. - This parcel is just waiting for someone who wants to enjoy a larger wooded parcel with beautiful river frontage in the "Great Upper Peninsula Outdoors"!
